Joe Norris – Landscape Artist Surrey

I was born and grew up in rural Kent, surrounded by orchards and hop gardens. As a young teenager, I painted fields of hop poles, oast houses, and village scenes, many of which I sold to local people.
After leaving school I studied Art at Maidstone College of Art and then at The University of Wales, Aberystwyth, where I specialised in the graphic arts and photography, achieving a BA honours degree.
After a career in photography, illustration and design and marketing, I now paint and exhibit regularly. I am proud to be a member of Tadworth Art Group, a long-established and prestigious group of highly talented and experienced artists. I have won several awards at their exhibitions, including The Artist Magazine award (twice), the popular vote, and The Pullingers award (twice).
I run popular weekly mini-workshops for beginners and improvers in various locations around Surrey, including Headley, Bookham, Bletchingley and Stoke D’Abernon.

I am inspired by rural and urban landscapes and figurative subjects such as crowds, people and animals. I am drawn to the unusual, and have a particular admiration for surrealist art. But all art has its own value, in or outside of its own context, and if it strikes a chord or beautifies, I believe it has its place.
I live with my wife and dog in Walton on the Hill, Surrey.
I am available for private tutoring and demonstrations to art groups by arrangement. Recently I was delighted to give demos and workshops for Caterham Art Group and Epsom & Ewell Art Group.
